Camp Red Fox

Get to Know Us!

Camp Red Fox has been known by many names in its roughly 23-year history! The program was first called Camp Keir, named for the host facility where the camp operated. Eventually moving to a new home at Canoe Cove Christian Camp, the program was renamed P.E.I. Children’s Camp. In 2011, the camp staff and campers worked together to create and vote on the new and final name; in true camp spirit, the top three names were narrowed down to Camp Red Fox by a round of applause and cheering at the final campfire of the season.

Camp Life

Camp has several traditional-style camp buildings as well as a spacious and modern new lodge, which includes a large recreation hall and sleeping quarters. Campers stay in groups called pods in the lower level of the main lodge, with up to 10 campers and three counsellors. There are shared washrooms with private showers on the main level. The lodge also houses an infirmary with full-time nursing staff. The grounds are home to several activity buildings, a large playing field, and offer direct access to the beautiful red sand beaches P.E.I. is famous for.

Skills

Our older campers (ages 13 and 14) get to participate in our skills program during the elective slot, which is designed to let your camper focus on activities they are interested in and work to improve their skills in those activities. At the beginning of the week, campers are offered a choice of three activities they may be interested in and are placed into one of those three choices. Campers then spend the next four days in the same skills area working with instructors to build on what they learned the previous day.

Sports and games

Campers will have fun in a safe environment where they will learn new sports & games not traditionally played at home. Past examples include: Quidditch, Field Hockey and Crab Leg Soccer

Swimming

We offer a recreational swimming program where the activity instructor will run a variety of games and challenges for the kids. The waterfront is always supervised by a National Lifeguard Service (NLS)-certified lifeguard who is also assisted by others with NLS or Bronze Cross certifications.
