Camp Red Fox

Get to Know Our Program!

Shared with the Camp Dia-Best Leadership Development Program (LDP), the Camp Red Fox LDP is designed for those who have a set of skills that they wish to develop further as they strive to become a member of the camp staff family.
The program engages youth in a recreational environment while challenging them to further develop their own leadership skills, learn the operations of camping program, gain experience working with children in a mentorship environment and heighten their own personal growth in camping.

Camp Life

For the portion of the program set at Camp Red Fox, there are several traditional-style camp buildings as well as a spacious and modern new lodge, which includes a large recreation hall and sleeping quarters. Participants stay in groups called pods in the lower level of the main lodge, with up to 10 participants and three counsellors. There are shared washrooms with private showers on the main level. The lodge also houses an infirmary with full-time nursing staff. The grounds are home to several activity buildings, a large playing field, and offer direct access to the beautiful red sand beaches P.E.I. is famous for.

While at Camp Dia-Best, campers live in cabins with up to 10 campers and two counsellors. Some cabins have washrooms while others have private change rooms, and there are central washrooms and shower facilities available to the entire camp.

Selection Criteria

As part of the registration and selection process, all candidates to D-Camps Leadership Development Programs (LDP) will be required to submit a written application. This application consists of a 400-word essay which answers the following questions:

  • 1. Why do you want to be a part of the LDP?
  • 2. What do you think you can bring to the group and the camp community?
  • 3. What do you want to learn from the program? How will you apply it away from camp?

Please apply by March 31st, 2016. Late or incomplete applications may not be considered.

Individual interviews may be conducted as part of the selection process and positions will be offered based on: LDP application, interview and region specific factors. Once all positions have been offered, a waitlist will be created, and applicants would then be admitted to the program as positions become available.

Our Activities

LDP participants will cover topics related to working at camp as well as general leadership techniques they can use in their home community. Topics include: conflict resolution, managing behaviour, team building and empowerment.

The participants attend both Camp Dia-Best AND Red Fox for their summer of training. The first week is a lesson-orientated session and the second week is a practicum-style session to gain hands-on experience.

Camp Red Fox 2017 Dates and Rates
